Avian Journal • Ownership Guide

Delhi NCR interiors deal with fine dust, strong daylight, air-conditioning and seasonal humidity. Premium furniture ages best when care is material-specific. The safest principle is simple: remove dust gently, clean spills quickly and avoid strong household chemicals unless the manufacturer approves them.

A material-by-material routine

Material Routine care Avoid
Natural marble/stone Soft dry cloth; blot spills promptly; use suitable stone-safe cleaner when needed Acidic cleaners, lemon/vinegar, abrasive pads
Leather Dust with a soft cloth; protect from intense direct sun; use approved conditioner sparingly Wet wiping, harsh detergents, untested polish
Velvet Low-suction vacuum with upholstery attachment; lift pile gently Scrubbing stains or saturating fabric
Wood veneer/solid wood Dry microfiber dusting; wipe spills immediately Standing water and silicone-heavy universal polishes
Metal finishes Soft dry cloth; fingerprints removed gently Abrasives that change brushed or plated finishes

Dust little and often

Fine dust becomes abrasive when rubbed aggressively across polished stone, lacquer or metal. Frequent light dusting is better than occasional heavy cleaning. Use separate clean microfiber cloths for different materials so grit is not transferred from one surface to another.

Marble: respond to spills quickly

Natural stone can stain or etch. Blot rather than spread a spill, especially coffee, citrus or coloured liquids. Coasters and trays are worthwhile on heavily used coffee and side tables. Always follow the care recommendation supplied for the exact stone and finish.

Leather: manage sun and dryness

Leather should not sit in relentless direct sunlight if it can be avoided. Rotate loose cushions where appropriate and keep heating or strong AC airflow from concentrating on one section. Before applying conditioner, confirm that it is compatible with the leather type.

Velvet: protect the pile

Pressure and use naturally change how velvet reflects light. Vacuum gently in the direction of the pile and avoid rubbing a local spot until it becomes visually different from the surrounding fabric. For significant stains, professional upholstery cleaning is safer than improvising with a strong chemical.

Wood and metal: less product, more consistency

Many premium finishes need little more than careful dusting. Excess polish can build residue or alter sheen. Treat plated brass, brushed metal and lacquered wood according to their specific finish rather than as generic “wood” or “metal”.

Ask for the care sheet before purchase

Products such as the Vela Coffee Table, Canton Sofa and Raveena Sofa Set combine different materials, making product-specific care especially important.

FAQs

Can I clean marble with vinegar?

Avoid acidic household cleaners on natural marble; they can affect the surface. Use a cleaner suitable for the exact stone.

How often should I vacuum a velvet sofa?

Light, regular vacuuming is preferable to allowing dust to build up. Frequency depends on use and the room environment.

Can I use one furniture polish on wood, metal and leather?

No. Different materials and finishes need different products, and an unsuitable polish can alter sheen or leave residue.
