Prioritise the first three rooms

Begin with the rooms that have to function on move-in day. A bed and mattress plan supports daily rest; a sofa and a few useful tables make the living room workable; a dining table or flexible eating surface establishes a place for meals and work. Décor, occasional seating and secondary storage can follow once you understand how you use the space.

Measure the room and the route

For each large item, note usable wall length, window and curtain position, socket location, door swing and walking paths. Measure the main entrance, lift, stair turns and corridor pinch points. A bed or dining table can fit a room and still be difficult to bring upstairs.

Photograph each room from the doorway and from the corners. Include a tape measure in one image when possible. Bring a basic floor plan with dimensions; rough sketches are useful if every measurement is labelled.

Choose a coherent order for the showroom

Begin with the largest anchor pieces: sofa, bed or dining table. Compare scale and finish before choosing smaller pieces. For the living room, browse sofas, then consider coffee tables and consoles around the actual layout. For the bedroom, review beds alongside bedside furniture and lighting.

Take notes on product name, size, finish and price rather than relying on photographs. Ask which pieces are displayed at each Avian location; the three showrooms have different formats and current displays may change.

Compare before you commit

Sit on shortlisted sofas for several minutes, open storage mechanisms, pull dining chairs back from the table and inspect surfaces under showroom light. Ask for written product dimensions, what the price includes, delivery scope, lead time and after-sales terms.
